Prof. Xiaofeng Ding

Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China

Big data management, cloud computing, data privacy protection methods, data query processing technology

Research experience:

I am currently a Professor and Pd.D Supervisor in the School of Computer Science and Technology at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). I received my Ph.D degree in Computer Science from HUST in 2009. I also worked as Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore and the University of South Australia during 2010-2013. My research interests mainly include data privacy and query processing, data encryption, graph databases and deep learning. Most of my works are published in reputable jounrals or conferences like IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing, International Conference on Very Large Data Bases (VLDB), IEEE International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE), ACM Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM) and etc.

Privacy Preserving Problems in Big Data Management

Abstract:

The need to efficiently store and query large scale datasets is evident in the growing number of data-intensive applications, particularly to maximize the mining of intelligence from these data (e.g., to inform decision making). However, directly releasing dataset for analysis may leak sensitive information of an individual even if the data is anonymized, as demonstrated by the re-identification attacks on the DBpedia datasets. In this talk, we introduce a novel k-decomposition algorithm and define a new information loss matrix designed for utility measurement in massively large graph datasets. We also propose a novel privacy preserving framework that can be seamlessly integrated with graph storage, anonymization, query processing, and analysis.

Brief: 

My research experience is inter-disciplinary, worked on the following areas: Values system, classification of personality by using artificial neural network, business ethics and corporate governance. Post-doctoral research at Daito Bunka University, Tokyo, Japan and the role of president at Centre for Rural Health and Social Education enabled me to gain research experience.  Currently working on the "Role of E-commerce and Internet Technology in Belt and Road Initiatives" and another ongoing research is on FitTech in digital economy and Blended learning.

Internet Technologies driven Public Management/E-government in the Digital Economy

Abstract: 

Change is permanent, the world is continually changing. In the field of internet technology, the changes are not just moderate but it is radical and transformational in nature leading to faster digital transformation. Digital transformation is a broader term than internet “unicorns”, at its core, digital transformation is about using the latest technology to do what we already do – but in an innovative way.  In other words, digital transformation refers to the adoption of digital technology to transform services or businesses. This is achieved by replacing manual processes with digital ones or replacing outdated digital technology with upgraded digital technology. Here an attempt is made to relate internet technology, public management and its application on E-government in the digital economy. This effort will seek to discover the foundations of Public Management and how it relates to information technology, specifically understanding E-government and other technologies in the public domain. This presentation will include the following: digital economy, digital transformation, public management, new public management, internet technology and it also discusses the E-government initiatives of different countries across the globe.

A. Prof. William Yeoh

Deakin University, Australia

Research experience:

Dr William Yeoh is an associate professor at Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics, Deakin University. His current research interests include business analytics, cybersecurity, crowdsourcing, AI, blockchain, etc. His research is supported by various funding bodies/organisations, and has appeared in leading A* journals and top information systems conferences (e.g. ICIS).  He is also a frequent speaker in industry forums. In 2020, he was named amongst the Top 25 Analytics Leaders in Australia by the Institute of Analytics Professionals of Australia.

His leadership and contribution has been recognised with several awards, including the ICT Educator of the Year Gold Award (awarded by the Australian Computer Society ACS - Australia’s premier ICT professional association and accreditation body), internationally-competitive IBM Faculty Awards, Deakin’s Vice-Chancellor Award for value Innovation (in recognition of his leadership for IBM Centre of Excellence in Business Analytics at Deakin), and Deakin Faculty Excellence in Research Award.

Moreover, his mentored team was crowned the World Champion at the IBM Watson Analytics Global Competition held in Las Vegas. Recently, his mentored team won the 'COVID-19 Flatten the Curve’ Hackathon (the biggest hackathon in Asia Pacific with 2,400 competitors from around the world). His life objective is to "Improve Quality of Life".

Improving Cybersecurity Through Simulated Phishing Attack and Embedded Training Campaign

Abstract:

Phishing attacks are costly for any organizations and individuals. As such, organizations are raising phishing awareness among employees through simulated phishing attacks and training campaign. However, existing academic research has provided little guidance on how to strategize and implement a combined phishing awareness and training campaign. In this study, we conduct an in-depth case study on a large phishing campaign involving 10,928 individuals. The study provides a contextual understanding of the simulated phishing attack together with embedded training campaign. Based on the case findings, this study highlights the best practices for phishing campaign managers. This research is useful for organizations that are planning or are in the process of implementing or reviewing their phishing awareness and education program.

Research experience:

Having more than 10 years of experience in academics and industries, he has helped a lot of organizations to accelerate their digital transformation. Yohannes’ extensive expertise in Information System Development, Knowledge Management, Accounting Information Systems, Digital Business, Business Ethics, Business Communication, Employability & Entrepreneurial Skills, E-Learning, User Experience, Information System Security and Information System Development makes him become the Subject Matter Expert for UX and Educational Technology at BINUS CREATES. His research interests vary from Implementing Human Information Behavior Concept for Design, Knowledge Management System impact in Hospital to Analysis and Design of Stock and Vehicle Maintenance Information System.

Apart from his work in digital transformation, Yohannes currently holds a strategic role as the Dean of School of Information Systems at BINUS UNIVERSITY, as well as prestigious positions in various associations as such co-founder and Vice Chair of Asosiasi Sistem Informasi Indonesia (ASII), and Chair of Indonesia ACM SIGCHI. His recent experiences also hold the role as a Chair of International HCI and UX Conference. He has contributed on various projects related to UI/UX such as Principle UX Consultant for Start-Up Company in Indonesia.

A Study of Systems Approach in Service Design

Abstract:

Service Design or Service Operations Design is a new buzzword in the world. For the interpretation that is currently still confusing, in this topic I will discuss a good and correct understanding of Service Design. The buzzword "Service Design" is getting more popular because of a campaign from a company that wants to change its direction in selling services from "Customer Experience" to "Service Design". The Service Design based on Human-centered Design and aims to produce service processes and strategies with outstanding User Experience (UX). In the context of products consisting of goods and services, Service Design is closely related to Product Design. The concept of service design, it will help the teams to better communicate and collaborate by providing an in-depth understanding of the multiple contributions they can integrate to create the conditions for new service. Service design incorporates both user and system perspectives, allowing the team to gain multiple perspectives by zooming in and out on the interactions within the service.
